Creativity In The Unexpected

With our move to Toledo, Ohio at the beginning of the year, I had plans to hit the ground running with my portrait and wedding photography!!! But then..... we were issued a stay at home order which changed everything. So then, I made big plans again: I was going to knock out ALL of my behind the scenes stuff. You know.... updating contracts, organizing spreadsheets, creating client resources, and of course writing ALL of those blog posts that have been floating around in my head for the last three years.

Let me first say, there is NOTHING wrong with using the this unexpected time to be "productive". However, there is also no reason to feel guilty if your days suddenly look a little slower, and not at all how you had written out your to-do list. I VERY quickly fell into that second category!

Even though we were no longer filling our days with errands and appointments, the days felt shorter, and Elia seemed to crave more active play times. So here I was.... letting myself be OK with this unexpected season of life and using my creativity in a new way.

One thing I have learned during this time: community is still important, even if it can only be done virtually. There is value in people (especially mom's of youngsters) sharing ideas and new activities with each other! I have had my fair share of recipe and activity sharing, and I actually hope it is something that continues even as we start to see life going back to the way it was before.

I am especially excited to share one of our latest finds!!! ARE YOU READY?!?!?!

Chalkola sent us their chalk markers, and let me tell you... Elia is obsessed with them! First of all, they are non-toxic and kid friendly. Second of all, they are SO versatile! Perfect for mixing things up on different days! They can be used on the cute little Chalkola chalk board, as well as windows, mirrors, and so much more! We have had so much fun with them!

These couldn't have come at a more perfect time, because over the last couple of months, Elia has blossomed in the Arts and Crafts department, which made my little mom heart so proud! I grew up with a very artistic mom who taught so many of our art classes in school, so I feel like I have some pretty big shoes to fill. (Thankfully for now, she enjoys even the simplest of crafts!)

Chalkola also sent me a discount code to share with people, because we all know kids are needing way more activities lately!! I highly suggest checking these amazing markers out, whether it's for your kids or for yourself!

You can purchase them directly from http:chalkola.com and use ERINN10 at checkout for a 10% discount.

Alternatively, you can also check out their products on Amazon. Apply CHALKOLA10 for the same discount!!

I would LOVE to hear if you guys try them out! Happy creating! And don't forget.... however you are spending this extra time at home, make the most of it! And keep sharing new ideas with others!
