Getting Your Bridal Details Photo-Ready

Most often than not, I begin my wedding days by shooting the details. This allows me to first of all "get in the zone" and warm up for the day. But it also allows me to make sure none of those pretty detail shots get overlooked as the business of the day progresses. You definitely don't want to miss out on these pictures because not only did you spend time picking things out, but it also ties together the style of the day when it comes to the images in your wedding album!

So as the bride, what do you need to know as you prepare your details for your photographer?

Here are a few quick tips:

- Get that ring sparkling!! Its a good idea to get your ring cleaned (and any other jewelry you will be wearing) before the wedding day so it will be the most brilliant in those pictures!

- Keep the trio together! Having BOTH the wedding bands and your engagement ring in the same place will easily allow me to photograph them as a set without having to hunt down the groom's ring.

- Flower Delivery. If you can have your flowers (both bouquets and boutonnieres) delivered to the room you are getting ready in before I arrive, I can then include your bouquet in many of the detail pictures, adding that extra pop of elegance and color.

-Extra trimmings! Check with your florist to see if she can also leave any extra blooms that were either too short or unused. Are you also using ribbons in your decor? Add a couple left overs of these as well! These all add interest and style to those detail shots, and once again ties all your style and color pallet together making a very uniform gallery of pictures!

-Double the invitation suite!! Having TWO copies of your full invitation suite allows it to be photographed both front and back together! Also consider having at least one envelope filled out with a dummy address. (Especially if you are addressing those invites with hand-lettering or calligraphy!!)

-All the papers! If you have any other paper goods, such as menus, programs, etc... Add those to your box of details.

-Dress up those hangers! Changing out your standard plastic hangers for something a little more fancy makes a HUGE impact in those dress shots! Not only for the bridal gown, but the bridesmaid dresses as well. There are so many unique customized options on Etsy or other bridal stores, but even the simple velvet covered hangers from Home Goods work just as well!

I hope this list helps as you find yourself approaching your big day. Happy Wedding planning!!!
